The differentiated natural gas market is evolving quickly. The future of certified natural gas will provide meaningful decarbonization options across the supply chain to domestic utility, industrial, and LNG buyers. This discussion will address the use of technology to meet the demands of the Natural Gas marketplace, illustrating end-to-end emissions quantification, reduction, and commercialization with Williams and Context Labs.

Williams low carbon Wellhead to Water Strategy is actively deploying state of the art technology solutions that demonstrate the important role natural gas can play in reducing emissions, lowering costs, and providing secure and reliable clean energy at home and around the world. Taking lessons learned from the voluntary carbon markets, we will explore how Williams partnership with Context Labs is bringing trust, transparency, and transactability to the certified natural gas market. Context Labs will discuss their Decarbonization-as-a-Service (DaaSTM) offering and their work commercializing carbon intensity with the CLEAR PathTM Environmental Attribute registry. CLEAR PathTM combines the highest quality of low emissions pathways with certified production, providing customers with market leading options for verified low and net-neutral natural gas deliveries.

In the 1970s, federal policies put a strict limits on natural gas for electric generation, believing there wasn’t enough to go around. Because of epic changes in policy and technology, gas is replacing coal for baseload electricity and the U.S. doesn’t need to import gas from Canada anymore. More recently, America has become a significant exporter in a volatile energy market.
